Despite the lack of adequate infrastructure in the remote regions of Mali, where Ecolog is mostly operating, including Tessalit, Kidal, Menaka and Doentza, Ecolog has been performing remarkably well and is making a positive impact with its environmental services.
With waste collection and recycling projects in ten different locations across the country, Ecolog services have not only improved the physical environment and the living conditions of the inhabitants but also created jobs: in 2016, over 80 local employees were dedicated solely to Ecolog’s waste collection and management projects.
The mission also requires equipment assets and vehicle, as the waste is collected by a fleet of sixteen waste collection trucks and then delivered to nine specially constructed waste incinerators, for appropriate treatment according to international standards.
Ecolog started delivering its services in Mali to the various peacekeeping missions of the United Nations, including MINUSMA and UNOPS and NATO in 2014. Since then, the total number of jobs created for local people have increased from over 180 in 2014 to more than 280 people in 2016.
Furthermore, every Ecolog employee is trained and receives education to perform according to international quality and safety standards. These learning experiences will be beneficial for their future careers as well and will enable them to share this knowledge ‘at home’ to improve their standards of living.
Local companies also benefit from the presence of Ecolog as the number of local vendors has been increasing consistently year by year. Court disputes with NDR resolved – NDR apologises

German public-law broadcasting company NDR apologises to Ecolog and the
Destani family
02/11/2010, Düsseldorf - The public-law broadcaster NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk, member of
the ARD) has apologised to the international company Ecolog and its founder, and has sent
personal letters expressing its regret at the suspicion-based reporting and the resulting damages.
In a report broadcast on 26 February 2010 as well as in the Internet, the NDR incorrectly claimed
and published that orders from NATO to Ecolog AG had possibly been misused for illegal actions.
German courts immediately forbad the broadcaster from making these and further defamatory
claims. NDR itself has now issued a voluntary statement to Ecolog and the Destani family that its
information has not been confirmed as correct and has issued an undertaking not to repeat these
comments and to delete corresponding publications. The letter reads “If this report has created a
suspicion of illegal actions by the company Ecolog or your family, this is a matter of regret for the
Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the employees and editors involved.”
NDR also thanked Ecolog and the company founder for their willingness to reach an out-of-court
settlement and to accept NDR’s apology for the inconvenience caused by the report.
“Naturally, we are pleased that NDR has thought better of the matter and withdrawn its incorrect
claims”, commented a spokesman of Ecolog. “In view of the irritation triggered amongst the
employees by this unfounded claim, it was important for us that the broadcasting company not only
delete its articles but also express its regret. This has been done and we can now regard the
matter as fully closed.”
As early as May, NATO Headquarters, Joint Forces Command Brunssum, declared that the
accusations expressed by the NDR to General Ramms had shown no indications of irregularities
when checked. Furthermore, Joint Forces Command Brunssum made it clear that “in view of the
possibly misleading reporting by the NDR, it should be noted that General Egon Ramms in no way
had suspicions against the company Ecolog prior to the discussion with NDR reporter Christoph
Heinzle.”
Ecolog provides integrated service solutions, with international presence, in Germany, USA, UAE,
Turkey, China, Kuwait and Macedonia. Ecolog-Macedonia has been based in Tetovo for more than
ten years and quickly established itself as the largest employer in the region. The company moved

A Tale of Two Cities, Baghdad & Washington
Baghdad, Aug. 23 (AKnews) – Iraq will pay $400 million in debts to Egyptian workers after 20 years.
Iraqi Finance Ministry spokesman Zaid Zamel said the government has finally decided that the payment does not conflict with Paris Club Agreement – which scratched debts racked up by Saddam Hussein.
Zamel told AKnews that the government has consulted the experts in legal affairs and the Paris Club about the impact of repaying the workers debt and they confirmed that the debt still needs to be paid because it is not linked to the Egyptian government but rather to private individuals.
“The Finance Ministry will pay the debt to the Egyptian workers from the 2012 budget or from the budget of this year in order to resolve this issue completely,” he said.
The workers were employed by the Iraqi state before the imposition of sanctions on Iraq in 1990 for its invasion of Kuwait. The UN imposed sanctions meant that Iraq was unable to pay the workers who were forced to return to their home country without their wages.

Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy died late Tuesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, after a battle with brain cancer. He was 77. "We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," a family statement said.

Ecolog International Service Solutions has started a complete the rebuilding of an old school hoping to earn many children’s happy faces.
The project involves the total repair and reconstruction of the school and also Ecolog will do equipment furnishing.
1. Extensive repair is taking part in the school’s class rooms, hallways/corridors, bathrooms, and the roof.
2. The school’s entrance was reconstructed and a new gate has been installed.
3. The outside surrounding wall of the school was replaced.
4. The school yard was equipped with a soccer field and a basketball field.
5. The entire school was painted.
6. Minor repairs are still in process such as painting and isolator's installations. .
The plan is for all activities to end by the start of the school year, September 2009.
